Butler Creek's origins date back to Montana in the 1930s, when founder De Vissing was challenged by a friend to invent a product that would keep riflescope lenses dry, while still allowing the use of the glasses at any time. De Vissing produces eyeglass covers in his basement and sells them through sporting goods magazines. Brothers Fred and Bill Heckerman bought the business and renamed it Butler Creek, after the small stream that runs through their shared property in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The product range has expanded over the years and today includes harnesses, straps, chargers and charger chargers.
